Laramie County Commissioners, Diane Humphrey, Gay Woodhouse and Dr. Troy Thompson, visited F. E. Warren Air Force Base, Wyo., Oct. 25.

During their visit, the commissioners were briefed on both the 20th Air Force and 90th Missile Wing missions. They also received a tour of various aspects of the base including a maintenance training facility, the 37th Helicopter Squadron, a missile alert facility and a security forces fire-team demonstration.

The commissioners said they were thankful to visit the wing, and meet not only base leadership, but also the incredible Airmen here.

"Even though I was in awe at the leadership at our base, the thing that impressed me most was the quality and maturity of the young people working there," said Thompson. "I am proud to have these people, these warriors, protecting me, my family and my country.

"My thanks to the many people that made our tour such a great success, and my thanks to all of the members of our military for the service they provide," he added.

Woodhouse also said thanks to all for "this once in a lifetime tour!"

"It (the tour) made me aware of the global significance of the mission of the 90th Missile Wing to a degree that I had not experienced previously," Woodhouse said. "It had the effect of making me excited to do the right thing to support Warren Air Force Base, the 90th Missile Wing, and each and every serviceman and woman who serves here whenever and wherever possible."

Col. Christopher Coffelt, 90th Missile Wing commander, shared how grateful he was to be able to host the commissioners during their tour here.

"It was wonderful having the opportunity to provide our Laramie County Commissioners with more information on our nuclear deterrence operations," Coffelt said. "It is overwhelming that our community leaders took time out of their busy schedules to learn more about the base, and I want to thank them so much for coming."
