WARREN AIR FORCE BASE, Wyo. -- As the end of summer is near and football season approaches, we need to remember how to safely work together as a team in order to accomplish our mission. Working together as a team has many added benefits. Teamwork can ease stress, build morale and accomplish many more objectives than working alone. When a team works toward the accomplishment of an objective or goal, it is much easier to divide the tasks at hand to guarantee everyone completes the tasks, and ultimately the team's goal. To realize the importance of working as a team, let's look at the 2010 Auburn Tigers football team. Auburn had a national championship season, through hard work and teamwork. As many of us may already know, a football team must score more points than the other team to win the game - this is accomplished through teamwork. The goal to score a touchdown is broken down into several different tasks: head coach - overall responsible for the success or failure of the team - quarterback, running back, wide receivers and all the lineman must work together. Each team member has their responsibility, whether to run the ball, throw the ball, catch the ball or block someone in order for the other actions to succeed. The other half of the team must work together to defend the ball and stop the other team from scoring. We can apply this teamwork effort to our lives, every day. The 90th Missile Wing is also broken down into many different tasks, all of which require a team effort to safely and securely execute the mission. The 90th MW commander must ensure all tasks are completed, and safety is paramount when completing the mission. The entire base is charged with safely working toward completing the mission. This includes: ops, cops, maintenance, mission support, medical and staff agencies. The 90th MW is one big team, and all our organizations must safely accomplish the mission together.
