F.E. WARREN AIR FORCE BASE, Wyo. -- Local and base authorities are investigating an incident in which a 5-year-old minor was injured by a stray bullet in the Trails End parking lot on F.E. Warren Air Force Base, Wyoming, at or about 10:00 p.m. on the evening of July 4, 2026.
The incident is currently under joint investigation between the Air Force Office of Special Investigations, the 90th Missile Wing Security Forces Squadron, and the Laramie County Sheriff’s Office.
“We are turning to the Cheyenne community for help in gathering more information on how this incident occurred, and we are asking anyone who has any information on the firing of the weapon that harmed a member of our Mighty Ninety family to reach out to OSI or the sheriff’s office,” said Col. Terry Holmes, 90th Missile Wing commander. “During this difficult time, we remain committed to taking care of our Airmen and their families.”
Officials are asking anyone who was celebrating nearby or who has relevant footage or information from approximately 10 p.m. on July 4 to contact AFOSI at 307-773-1852, or LCSO at 307-633-4730.
No further details will be released pending the investigation.
