Firefighters rescue cat
The firefighters of F.E. Warren Air Force Base, Wyo., made a special house call to rescue a cat from a tree Aug. 27, 2013. Senior Airman Rodney Turner, 90th Civil Engineer Squadron firefighter, returns Max to his owner Elizabeth Marvin, 9. Turner climbed to a height of about 60 feet in order to rescue the cat from the tree. The Fire department took this as an opportunity to practice ladder training while providing a community service. Jim Widlar and Frank Waters, former 706th Strategic Missile Wing members assigned here in the1950s and 1960s, presented to Col. Tracey Hayes, 90th Missile Wing commander; Chief Master Sgt. Mike Garrou, 90th Missile Wing Command Chief; Paula Taylor, 90th MW Museum curator; and Mike Byrd, 90th MW historian, the original Atlas missile plaque which states “706th Strategic Missile Wing, America’s 1st Operational ICBM Wing,” during a commander’s call in the Base Theater Aug. 27, 2013. Warren Air Force Base, Wyo., Crow Creek Challenge Aug. 22, 2013. One of the most physically demanding of the events, team pain saw teams doing team pushups in muddy water, flip a heavy tire the length of the course and then carry a log back the length of the course.
