Get out of the House! Manitou Springs
The nine-mile-long cog railway that runs from Manitou Springs, Colo., up Pike’s Peak has a maximum grade of 25 percent, reaching at its peak 14,109 feet above sea level. A “cog railway” is designed to allow trains to climb steeper angles than standard railroads. Tours up the railway are available for a small fee.
