90th MW Police Week 2018
Senior Airman Kevin Santos 90th Security Forces Squadron military working dog handler, fires his weapon down-range during a three-gun competition at the Cheyenne Police Department firing range in Laramie County, Wyo. A three-gun competition consists of a set of courses in which you shoot three different weapons—a rifle, a pistol and a shotgun—at different stages, and engage various short- and long-distance targets from multiple positions. Scoring is based on time and hits minus penalties, with each stage assigned match points based on a degree of difficulty. In 1962, President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation which designated May 15 as Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week in which that date falls as Police Week.
