Article 15: Spotlight on justice

Between March 1 and April 26, 20 Airmen received an Article 15 at Warren. Of the 20 Article 15 actions, six were alcohol related. The following is a breakdown of the Uniform Code of Military Justice articles violated and the punishments received. 

Alcohol Related Incidents 

A first lieutenant violated Article 111 by driving while drunk or intoxicated. He received a forfeiture of $2,700 pay over two months and a reprimand. 

An airman first class violated Articles 86 and 92 by failing to go to his appointed place of duty and drinking alcohol under the legal drinking age. He received a demotion to airman, suspended demotion to airman basic, suspended forfeiture of $1,300 pay over two months, restriction to base for 30 days and 30 days extra duty. 

An airman first class violated Articles 111 and 112 by driving drunk and being drunk on duty. He received a demotion to airman, forfeiture of $800 pay over two months, restriction for 30 days, 45 days extra duty and a reprimand. 

A senior airman violated Article 92 by drinking alcohol while on standby. He received a suspended demotion to airman first class, forfeiture of $403 pay and 14 days extra duty. 

An airman first class violated Articles 92, 95, 128 and 134 by drinking alcohol under the legal drinking age, resisting apprehension, assaulting another person, and drunk and disorderly conduct. He received a demotion to airman, suspended demotion to airman basic and 30 days extra duty. 

A senior airman violated Articles 92 and 111 by having an open container of alcohol in a vehicle and driving drunk. He received a demotion to airman first class and 15 days extra duty. 

All others 

An airman first class violated Article 112a by using marijuana. He received a demotion to airman basic and forfeiture of $650 pay. 

An airman first class violated Articles 92 and 107 by failing to obey a lawful general regulation and making a false official statement. He received demotion to airman, suspended forfeiture of $1,458 pay over two months and 30 days extra duty. 

A senior airman violated Articles 107 and 134 by making a false official statement and obstructing justice. She received a demotion to airman first class and forfeiture of $864 pay. 

An airman first class violated Article 121 by stealing military property. He received a demotion to airman basic, forfeiture of $350 pay and a reprimand. 

A senior airman violated Article 134 by failing to pay a debt. She received a suspended demotion to airman first class, 45 days extra duty and a reprimand. 

A senior airman violated Article 92 by failing to obey a lawful general order. He received a demotion to airman first class and a reprimand. 

A senior airman violated Article 134 by breaking restriction. He received a demotion to airman first class, suspended forfeiture of $1,728 pay over two months, restriction to base for 45 days, 20 days extra duty and a reprimand. 

A senior airman violated Article 86 by failing to go to his appointed place of duty. He received a demotion to airman first class and a reprimand. 

An airman violated Article 134 by discharging a firearm and carrying a concealed weapon. He received a demotion to airman basic, restriction to base for 15 days and a reprimand. 

A senior airman violated Article 121 by stealing military property. He received a demotion to airman first class, suspended forfeiture of $1,728 pay over two months, 30 days extra duty and a reprimand. 

A senior airman violated Article 134 by failing to maintain sufficient funds. She received a suspended demotion to airman first class, restriction to base for 20 days and 25 days extra duty. 

An airman first class violated Article 111 by driving in a reckless manner. He received a suspended demotion to airman, forfeiture of $200 pay over two months and 25 days extra duty. 

A senior airman violated Article 86 by failing to go to her appointed place of duty. She received a suspended demotion to airman first class, restriction to base for 15 days, 20 days extra duty and a reprimand. 

An airman violated Article 113 by leaving his post before being properly relieved. He received a suspended demotion to airman basic, 20 days extra duty and a reprimand.

Editor's note: Suspended punishments are those that a commander has decided not to implement to give the Airman incentive to comply with standards. If the Airman continues to not meet standards, the command may carry out the previously suspended punishment.
