The wait is over. The grand opening for the newly renovated Fall Hall Community Center is today.

"Be prepared to be blown away by the state of the art equipment and top of the line amenities," Robin Lauser, community center programs director said.

The community center basement now offers the latest and most popular in video games and accessories. Also, recreational gaming sports such as pool, air hockey, foosball and ping-pong are now available.

"Where else will you be able to play your favorite games on 55-inch, flat screen monitors, in custom designed gaming chairs, and not pay a penny to participate?" Ms. Lauser said.

Fall Hall also has a newly designed laser tag arena that can support parties of twenty people or smaller groups seeking individual challenges.

"The prices for laser tag are some of the best to be found," Ms. Lauser said.

Fifteen-minute games are $4 per-person, and half-hour games are $6 per-person. Groups of 10 or more people who play for a half-hour receive a discounted rate of $5 per person.

The community center also offers a renovated rock-climbing wall. Members who were previously belay certified will need to call and schedule refresher training with the staff before climbing with ropes. Those who have never been certified need to call and find out dates and times when the next class will be offered.

In the same area as the rock climbing wall, there is also a dance studio and batting cages.

"While the dance studio has not changed much, you will find that the batting cages have taken on a new look with all new pitching machines and equipment," Ms. Lauser said.

In addition to the new facilities, Fall Hall now offers party rooms and comprehensive party packages catered to support everything from a young child's birthday party to squadron competitions and team building events.

"Last but not least, we have a wireless Internet café where folks can enjoy a hot cappuccino while they surf the Internet, access their personal e-mails and update their social networking accounts," Ms. Lauser said. "People can also work on tasks that can't be accomplished on their military computers."

According to Ms. Lauser, the community center will continue to offer a wide range of programming for all ages: from toddler/preschool mornings out to Airmen late-nighters.

"With Christmas upon us, you will also see us offering holiday-specific events such as our tree lighting ceremony, surprise-me-Santa visit, visit with Santa Paws, Santa grams and a hat, mitten and glove tree for our less fortunate families in the community," Ms. Lauser said.

"When making your gift list, be sure to check out our sweet surprises balloon operation where we continue to expand and offer greater gift options," she added.

Ms. Lauser said all base members and their families are invited to the tree lighting today at 5 p.m. at the Base Christmas Tree. Following the tree lighting is the Fall Hall ribbon cutting 5:30 p.m.
