Comm Focal Point protects data

F.E. WARREN AIR FORCE BASE, Wyo. --  The 90th Communication Squadron's Communication Focal Point coordinates and tracks computer maintenance for F.E. Warren Air Force Base.

The focal point's main focus--biggest challenge, according to Mike Doen, CFP controller--is keeping the more than 4,000 computers of Mighty Ninety and the tenant commands secure.

"We have to keep on top of our computer systems so they are the absolute most secure communication device they can be." Doen said. "That (task) is never ending. Patches are coming out daily."

It is a job the CFP cannot do without help Tim Beard, 90th CS Operations Flight chief, said.

"We can't do it by ourselves." Beard said. "When we advise our customers about changes that need to happen--patches that need to be applied--we need them to take it seriously. It is important for them to get things patched and serviced as quickly as possible."
