This past week, Warren members and their families had the opportunity to enjoy recreation, sports, food and entertainment during the base's annual summer event, Frontiercade Aug. 19.

With events ranging from a dizzy-bat relay to a pie and chili cook-off to tug-of-war and even a buffalo chip toss, there was entertainment for all.

"After years of providing a command-wide summer promotion, I was given the reigns for Frontiercade," said Lorri Welsh, 90th Force Support Squadron marketing specialist.

After the opening ceremony, Warren's commanders participated in the buffalo chip toss, where they tossed buffalo chips either by hand or by machine. Units were broken into two categories for all events, large unit and small unit.

After the buffalo chip toss, other festivities occurred such as the human wheelbarrow race, archery contest, a 1.3 mile walk and a dizzy bat relay.

Food and drinks were provided by many off-base sponsors.
"It's great that we have so much support from the downtown community," Welsh said. "It's my hope that this event contributes to the strong community we enjoy here."

The conclusion of Frontiercade saw the 790th Missile Security Forces Squadron winning the large-unit category and the 90th Logistics Readiness Squadron winning the small-unit category.
