The American300, an organization that sponsors activities to motivate and honor service members, visited Warren March 30 to inform Airmen about the American300 Rowing Challenge.

The rowing challenge is an Air Force Global Strike Command-wide contest to see which Airman can row the greatest distance. It will last from April 5 to May 5, and during that time Airmen can accumulate rowing distance in the Freedom Hall Fitness Center, said Rob Powers, founder of the American300 and former Army infantryman.

Airmen with the most distance rowed, as well as the AFGSC base with the greatest total distance rowed, will win various prizes.

Staff Sgt. Minh Tran, 90th Civil Engineer Squadron dorm manager and experienced rower, said he thinks the challenge will be good for F. E. Warren.

"I think it's interesting," Tran said. "It will expose people to rowing and its benefits and how challenging it is."

Sean Colgan and Dan Beery, former U.S. Olympic rowers, visited Freedom Hall Fitness Center with the American300 to demonstrate proper rowing form and share their stories.

Individuals may compete in the rowing challenge from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday to Friday and from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
