April was the Month of the Military Child. Base events were held during the month in schools, the youth center and other places. The month's events culminated April 27, with a party at the F. E. Warren Air Force Base, Wyo., Youth Center.

"We are celebrating the culmination of the Month of the Military Child," said Stacy Compton, 90th Force Support Squadron airman and family services flight chief. "We've, the whole community actually, has been doing a variety of activities throughout the month to celebrate that."

Compton said the goal of the event was not just to mark the end of the month.

"We wanted to give parents, families and children an opportunity to come together and just play," Compton said. "We feel like families don't get an opportunity to do that very often. So, we wanted to give them that opportunity tonight."

The youth center provided pizza, board games, face painters and other games for their visitors. Compton expressed satisfaction with how the night turned out saying that the approximately 75 people who attended were more than she had expected.

Compton said she thought the event was a good opportunity to show the F. E. Warren community what the youth center has to offer; but, that was secondary to her main goal.

"People are having a very good time and that is the most important thing," Compton said.
