F.E. WARREN AIR FORCE BASE, Wyo. -- Military Spouse Magazine announced that Kristen McCreary has been recognized as the 2017 F.E. Warren Spouse of the Year.
The award program, originally founded in 2008, is sponsored by Armed Forces Insurance. The program is now in its tenth year and honors the achievements of military spouses from all branches of service and from all ranks.
The Military Spouse of the Year award program recognizes spouses in the military community who have gone above and beyond in support of our nation’s service members and military families.
“The Spouse of the Year program looks at the contributions made to the base and community,” said Kristen McCreary, Warren Spouses’ Club social chairman. “I am fortunate to be a part of the organization, they are willing and able to help people and groups in need.”
Kristen and husband Senior Airman Daniel McCreary, 90th Security Support Squadron, combat arms instructor, are originally from a small town in North Carolina. They have been stationed here for approximately four years and enjoy doing outdoor activities with their two young sons Colton and Anderson.
“Our family is always doing something fun,” Kristen said. “We love to take our kids fishing or just going to the baseball fields to hit some balls.”
Kristen feels that the Warren Spouses’ Club has helped her bond with other individuals from the local community.
“I had been here for two years, had barely met anyone and I knew that I had to get involved in something,” McCreary said. “The club allows spouses a time away from home to wind down and to forget about any of life’s problems that you may be facing.”
Kristen not only got involved within the Spouses’ Club, she was also elected as the social chair for the volunteer organization and held this position for approximately six months.
“Kristen has been amazing and has done an extraordinary job. I don’t think that anyone could have done a better job than she has done,” said Nina Hebert, Warren Spouses’ Club president. “She came into the position with little to no training and she has done an unbelievable job.”
