Ninetieth Missile Wing Airmen and families gathered in the F.E. Warren Golf Course Clubhouse, Dec. 17, to celebrate the selection of three of the wing's Airmen to the rank of chief master sergeant.

The selects honored were Senior Master Sgts. Allen Cantrell, Wendell Snider and James Spino from the 90th Logistics Readiness Squadron, 90th Civil Engineer Squadron and 790th Maintenance Squadron respectively.

"I was humbled," said Snider. "A strong sense of gratitude hit me."

Speaking from his experience as a chief, Chief Master Sgt. Samuel Couch, 90th MW command chief said, "I think the Air Force made great selections this year, and I think all three will serve our Airmen well in the 90th MW as chief master sergeants."

At the celebration, Couch charged the new selects with finding, building up and mentoring the one percent of Airmen who will be future chiefs.

"When I found out I was selected, I was ecstatic -- proud to be part of the legacy of past, present and future chiefs," Cantrell said.

Each select attributed his success to the efforts of their Airmen under their leadership.

"All my people's hard work paid off," Spino said.

About one in five of the senior master sergeants eligible for promotion to chief were selected throughout the Air Force.
