Vice commander selected to lead wing Published Dec. 23, 2015 By Master Sgt. Gloria Wilson 90th Missile Wing Public Affairs F.E. WARREN AIR FORCE BASE, Wyo. -- Advancing in the Air Force is not something to be taken lightly and that holds true with one of Mighty Ninety's leaders when he found out about the next step in his Air Force career--being selected to command a wing. Col. Ronald G. Allen, Jr., 90th Missile Wing vice commander, knew a few months ago that he was on the Command Candidate List, however, being listed as a candidate does not guarantee selection. The list that differentiates between a candidate and a select is the Command Selection List, which was released Dec. 16. In addition to the CSL letting applicable colonels know what level of command they were selected for, it also lets them know where. Specifically for Allen, he has been selected as the next 341st MW commander at Malmstrom Air Force Base, Montana. Being chosen to lead a wing is no easy feat, and being chosen to lead a wing with a nuclear deterrence mission makes it even more humbling, said Allen. "I truly didn't expect this," said Allen. "It is an honor to be provided this opportunity and know that our leaders have faith in my ability and experience." This Texas A&M University graduate was previously stationed here at F.E. Warren AFB from June of 1995 - June 2000 in a variety of positions and then returned to Warren as the 90th Operations Group commander May 2014. He became the vice commander here last December. He will stay the vice commander until he departs to assume command at the 341st MW, however, when that will occur is currently unknown. In the meantime the men and women of the 90th MW will be able to enjoy his leadership until it's time for the next chapter of his Air Force journey.
