Col. Greg Buckner assumed command of the 90th Maintenance Group June 3, during a change-of-command ceremony inside the Maintenance High Bay here. Col. Stephen Kravitsky, 90th Missile Wing commander, was the presiding officer for the ceremony.

Buckner comes to the MXG from the 20th Air Force headquarters, where he was the director for logistics and planning.

As the new maintenance commander, Buckner is responsible for the maintenance support of 150 Minuteman III Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles and 15 Missile Alert Facilities dispersed over a 9,600-square mile area.

“After so many years as a maintainer, it’s great to finally make it to a missile wing,” said Buckner. “In the time I spent at the 20th [Air Force headquarters], I can say that I understand the mission and am excited to take command of the group.”

As the MXG welcomes Buckner into their ranks, they must also say good-bye to Col. Trevor Flint as he makes his way to Kirtland Air Force Base, New Mexico, to be the Director of Nuclear Inspections for the Air Force Inspection Agency.

Flint has been a part of the Mighty Ninety since 2007, with only a year away attending Air War College at Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama. Flint served as commander of the 90th Maintenance Operations Squadron, commander of the 90th Missile Maintenance Squadron and deputy commander of the Operations group before returning as the MXG commander.

In a tear-filled speech, Flint bid farewell to the group, thanking each and every Airman for making his time here one of the best assignments he has had.

“I am going to miss coming in each day and working with the professionals of the group and the wing,” he said. “I leave you in the capable hands Col. Buckner and hope you show him how amazing you all are.”
