F.E. WARREN AIR FORCE BASE, Wyo. -- The 90th Missile Wing’s intramural volleyball season wrapped up May 4, with the 90th Security Forces Squadron team achieving victory against the 90th Medical Group’s Team 1.
The semi-finals and championship games were played back-to-back. The 90th SFS team played the 90th Missile Maintenance Squadron/ 790th Maintenance Squadron team, winning both, while the MDG team beat the 90th Contracting Squadron two matches to none.
The championship was hard fought, with each team trading victories in the first two matches. In the final battle, the SFS team narrowly won with a score of 15 to 11.
For the defenders, the match was foretold in the first intramural match up. Bryan Patterson, an SFS team member, said he was confident in winning after the first game, predicting his team would work together to bring home the trophy.
“In the beginning of the season, I just felt like we were going to be the best team out there,” Patterson said. “We proved it by finishing 13 and one and winning the championship.”
Softball is the next intramural sport, and the season is set to begin at the end of the month.
