Global Strike Challenge is back.

This year, 90th Missile Wing Airmen are showing what we're made of to our competition, ourselves and the world.

The GSC is the sole ICBM, bomber and security forces competition in the world with units from Air Force Global Strike Command, Air Combat Command, Air Force Reserve Command and the Air National Guard all vying to be the best.

"GSC is a way to keep the 5 [AFGSC] bases competing, improving and learning new ways of doing our job," said Senior Airman Jake McBroom, 90th Missile Maintenance Squadron Missile Maintenace Team member. "It shows we're competent at what we do, it shows we're able to do our job safely, securely and we're able to do it at a high level of performance."

The 90th Maintenance Group teams for 2014 are the 90th MMXS MMT; the 90th MOS Electronics Laboratory team; the 90th MOS Mechanical and Pneudraulic Shop team; the 90th Maintenance Operations Squadron Power, Refrigeration and Electrical team; and the 90th Munitions Squadron team.

Maintenance Airmen compete in timed trials of troubleshooting and repair tasks for various parts and equipment related to their career fields.

Those waiting to compete have high hopes of victory.

"I would say the team is very well prepared," said Tech. Sgt. Guy McCutcheon, 90th MOS ELAB trainer. "We've been doing a lot of table-topping and doing the tasks for the past month."

For the last month the teams have been hitting the books hard, and conducting hands-on training as well, said Staff Sgt. George Cornejo, 90th MOS ELAB team chief.

"I feel the team is very comfortable with the tasks," he said. "We have a good flow."

So far, the 90th MOS MMT has already competed and is waiting for the overall scoreposting at Barksdale Air Force Base, La., in November.

"It was great," said Senior Airman Justin Seely, 90th MMXS MMT member. "We had a lot of team-building moments, we got to know each other a little better and we got to show everybody how we go out there and get the job done every day.

"I felt we learned a lot of things like how to do things more efficiently, how to cut our timeline down and get home faster."

As for the expected outcome, Senior Airman Aaron Hey from the 90th MOS PREL team leaves no doubt: "I think we're going to blow it out of the water."
