Renovations are bringing new life to the Trail's End Event Center and officials are eying a Summer 2016 reopening.

Contractors officially began construction late September this year. Contractors were given 280 days to complete the project.

"We have separate contractors coming in and doing the work," said Gabriel Laramie, 90th Force Support Squadron Community Services flight chief. "The contractors are knocking it out. They are working fast and are ahead of schedule, so we are very pleased with it so far."

If progress continues without any complications there is a possibility of the center opening early, Laramie said.

"There is a large window to get this renovation complete," he added. "If things continue like this, I'm very optimistic that we will get things up and going again."

Approximately $180,000 was approved for revitalizing the center. New carpets and wall upgrades, among other odds and ends, are underway to give the center a new feel.

"To be honest, the facility was a little outdated," said Jacqueline Smith, 90th FSS Community Services director. "We want it to still look professional, but upgraded."

Smith recently took charge of the Fall Hall Community Center and base theater along with the soon-to-be finished Trail's End.

"I'm excited to give people more of an option as to where they can hold events," Smith said.

Smith is currently working on possible events to hold when the center re-opens to give the base community a closer venue for entertainment.

"[It is] not for certain yet, but we are throwing around various ideas," Smith said. "I would definitely like to run a lot more adult-themed programs. Fall Hall is family oriented whereas Trail's End is geared toward adults."

The facility offers a variety of locations within its walls to support base functions, such as retirements, promotions, commander's calls and more.

"We are in the process of putting furniture back in right now," Laramie said. As [soon as the] contractors finish, we will be ready to open and ready to go."
