F.E. WARREN AIR FORCE BASE, Wyo. -- The U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds are once again ripping across the sky, returning to F.E. Warren Air Force Base, Wyoming, for the Wings Over Wyoming air show.
With the Thunderbirds being one of the most well-known aerial demonstration teams in the world, the airshow attracted a vast number of spectators.
“I’m excited for the airshow because I’ve never seen the Thunderbirds before,” said Asher Raven, spectator. “I’ve seen the Blue Angels before, so seeing the Thunderbirds will be something new to experience.”
The Thunderbirds, assigned to the 57th Wing out of Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada, are making a reapearance this year at F.E. Warren AFB’s airshow. With the U.S. Air Force’s premiere air demonstration teams’ first appearance in Cheyenne dating all the way back to July 23, 1953, many locals consider these daredevils of the sky as a traditional and integral part of the installation’s annual airshow.
“We’re a military jet demonstration team, and what you’re going to see for the Cheyenne Frontier Days is six high performance aircraft flying very incredible and powerful maneuvers,” said Maj. Tyler Clark, the right wing pilot for the U.S. Air Force Air Demonstration Squadron, Thunderbird 3. “I think you guys are going to be blown away for what we’re going to showcase for you.”
The Wings of Blue parachute team from the U.S Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and the WC-135 Rivet Joint out of Offut Air Force Base, Nebraska, also performed in the Wings Over Wyoming air show.
The Wings Over Wyoming airshow gave a one hour long show of powerful and daunting maneuvers for local and traveling spectators from all around the country to enjoy.
