Col. Jeff Regan assumed command of the 90th Operations Group during a change of command ceremony June 6, 2024, at the Trail’s End on F.E. Warren Air Force Base, Wyoming.

Prior to his current position, Regan served as director of operations, communications and security at 20th Air Force.

Regan addressed the 90 OG and expressed how excited he is to be in command.

“You are here today, Jolly Rogers, to do what others do not want to do. You do that today so that tomorrow others do not have to make the ultimate sacrifice,” said Regan. “I cannot express how proud I am to wear your colors once again, so let’s go.”

Col. Jared Nelson, outgoing 90 OG commander, wished Regan well while expressing his gratitude to the men and women of the Jolly Rodgers.

“It is a rare opportunity to command a military unit and I am so grateful to have met the men and women who worked with me and around me. It’s been the greatest honor of my entire life, and I just thank you from the bottom of my heart,” said Nelson. “I’m about to give the flag to a good friend, and that is another rare opportunity. Someone who I’ve known and worked with and trust..”

Nelson is retiring from active-duty service and he and his wife are planning on a 100-day vacation, then moving on to a Minuteman III sustainment program as a contractor.

Col. Johnny Galbert, 90th Missile Wing commander and presiding officer, praised Nelson’s time as the commander while expressing his trust in Regan.

“Your breadth and depth of experience is exactly what we need to build upon the excellence that Colonel Nelson has established, and to take the 90th Operations Group to even newer heights of success,” said Galbert.

A change of command ceremony is a tradition that represents a formal transfer of authority and responsibility from the outgoing commander to the incoming commander.
