Airmen released from hospital following helicopter crash at Cheyenne Regional Airport

Three crew members have been released from the local hospital following a UH-1N helicopter crash at the Cheyenne Regional Airport in Cheyenne, Wyoming, that occurred at approximately 10:30 a.m., Aug. 30, 2023.

“I would like to personally thank the first responders from the Wyoming Air National Guard and American Medical Response who arrived on scene and ensured everyone remained safe,” said Col. Johnny Galbert, 90th Missile Wing commander. “We are thankful there were no major injuries.”

Wyoming Air National Guard fire department responded first, followed by two F.E. Warren fire department trucks and a 90 MW command unit.

The Air Force initiated an Interim Safety Board immediately after the mishap to gather the facts surrounding the incident. A Safety Investigation Board will be convened to determine the cause of the crash and to recommend measures necessary to prevent future mishaps.
