The 90th Missile Wing honored 29 military children graduating from high school this year in a Purple Cord Recognition ceremony at Freedom Hall Fitness Center on F.E. Warren Air Force Base, Wyoming, April 28th, 2023.

This is the first time the ceremony has been hosted to honor the achievements of military children graduating as seniors this year from Laramie Country School District #1.

There are approximately 220 military children students enrolled at Central, East, South and Triumph High Schools, and more at the elementary and middle schools. Some of these children have changed schools as many as ten times before they became seniors, which has given them more experiences and knowledge than most school-aged kids.

“Military children go through a lot of different schools and make a lot of sacrifices,” said Col. Catherine Barrington, 90th Missile Wing commander. “It is really important that we recognize how it makes them better. They meet new friends, get many wonderful experiences and move all over the country and world. It is really beneficial to them and we are really proud to recognize them today.”

The ceremony provided the opportunity for family and friends to celebrate and honor the graduates and their accomplishments in school.
