For a limited time, the Air Force has expanded the fiscal 2007 prior service program(initially open to nine Air Force specialty codes) to 33 AFSCs.

This program closes once the Air Force has accessed 40 prior service applicants for Fiscal 2007.

Prior service applicants include prior service Air Force, Army, Navy, Marine Corps, reserve, air national guard and individual mobilization augmentee members ordered to extended active duty for the limited period recall program. Prior service Air Force, ANG and Air Force Reserve applicants are eligible for direct duty only. No retraining is authorized. Prior service sister-service applicants must have a specialty similar to one of the listed 33 AFSCs. Job conversions will be made on an individual basis for sister-service applicants.

Prior service applicants must have separated as an E-7 or below and have not been separated for more than six years, unless holding a guard or reserve position in an associated AFSC. This program does not apply to those retired from any active, guard or reserve branch.

As a minimum, a Defense Department Form 214, Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty, and the last five enlisted performance reports are mandatory for the application process. For sister-service applicants, a letter of recommendation from their current or past supervisor is required. A DD Form 368, Request for Conditional Release, is required for current Guard or Reserve applicants. Many other qualification factors may apply, and other forms may be needed. This will be determined on an individual basis.
To apply for this program, call the local Air Force recruiters in the Frontier Mall in Cheyenne at (307) 632-2344 or (307) 634-5138.
