New program launched: Getting a bachelor’s degree is as easy as ABC Published July 6, 2007 By Sharon Edwards 90th Force Support Squadron F. E. Warren AFB, Wyo. -- The community college of the Air Force launched a ground-breaking program June 15 to help Airmen achieve a bachelor's degree. The Air University's associate to baccalaureate program allows Airmen to apply their CCAF credits toward a bachelor's degree; in most cases significantly decreasing the amount of time it takes to get the degree. According to the Air Force virtual education center, AU-ABC applies CCAF or other two-year associate degree credits towards baccalaureate degrees and requires participants to complete no more than 60 semester hours after having earned an associate in applied science degree. The AU-ABC program is open to active duty Air Force, Air Force Reserve and Air National Guard members. Once enrolled, members can even complete their degree after they retire or separate from the Air Force. "This program is incredible," said Karen Kritzmire, Warren education advisor. "Airmen can log into the Air Force Portal, click on the virtual education center and see an extensive list of universities and the degrees they offer. It's one-stop shopping. From choosing a college to completing tuition assistance, the virtual education center has it all." The Air Force's vision of providing distance learning and bachelor's degree opportunities for Airmen has teamed the military with colleges like Park University and Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, which also have offices conveniently located in the Warren's education center. Degrees from the continually-growing college list range the baccalaureate spectrum from criminal justice specializing in homeland security to pastoral studies to sports science. Warren's education staff can provide one-on-one counseling to show Airmen what classes they need to achieve their CCAF, what classes they can test out of and the degree opportunities available.
