Gen. Kevin P. Chilton, Air Force Space Command commander, visited Warren July 27 to participate in Cheyenne Frontier Days.

This year marks the second time the general and his family have attended CFD.

"Ever since the last time we came here, it's all we've talked about," General Chilton said. "We're looking forward to coming back here next year."

Special visitors have always been welcome to the common bond that Cheyenne and Warren share.

"It's amazing how the city makes everybody feel welcome and part of the family," said Col. Michael Morgan, 90th Space Wing commander. "Cheyenne has that unique ability to make everyone feel special, whether you are a tourist or a four-star general."

General Chilton and his family, along with key members of the 90th SW, participated in Cheyenne's parade Saturday morning. After the parade, they arrived at Frontier Stadium to enjoy the festivities and to watch the rodeo.

CFD starts the last week of July and lasts 10 days. The event's festivities range from carnival rides and game booths to rodeos and concerts. The event takes a collective effort from the city of Cheyenne and the Warren community, Colonel Morgan said.

The weather turned sour Saturday afternoon, resulting in a muddy arena for the cowboys.

"I've been to a lot of rodeos, but I've never been to one this wet," General Chilton said. "It's amazing what the cowboys are putting up with."

The general and family left Wyoming Sunday morning and returned to Peterson Air Force Base, Colo.
