Former launch officers from the 566th Strategic Missile Squadron, 389th Strategic Missile Wing, held a 50th reunion in early August. In 1960, F.E. Warren AFB was the first operational ICBM base in the U.S. The 566th SMS was originally designated the 549th SMS. The veterans toured F.E. Col. Robert Vercher, 90th Operations Group commander, briefs a group of former Atlas-E crew members who were once stationed here in the operations group building Aug. 3.
