Warren's annual cookie drive was held here Dec. 6 in the Trail's End Club.

The event was run by Julie Tims, wife of Col. Greg Tims, 90th Missile Wing commander. Homemade cookie donations began at 6:30 a.m. and continued until about 10 a.m.

The cookie drive, which occurs annually across the Air Force and at all of Air Force Global Strike Command's bases, is a way to show appreciation for the Airmen.

"Our number one priority is to bring holiday cheer to our dorm residents, who may not have a chance to get home for the holidays," Mrs. Tims explained.

Scores of volunteers showed up to sort through the wide array of cookies, fill cookie trays, decorate packages and create festive tags with messages like, "thank you for serving" and "you are appreciated."

"Air Force traditions such as the cookie drive are a wonderful way for the families and community at F. E. Warren to thank our Airmen," Mrs. Tims said.

Help was not hard to find at the event: volunteers included Airmen from the Airmen Leadership School class 11-B, spouses, retirees and civilians from the wing.

The drive produced about 500 trays of cookies to be distributed to approximately 460 Airmen who reside in the dorms. The leftover treats were packaged and sent to multiple agencies on base.

"We are very grateful for all the downtown donations and the many volunteers who helped out," Mrs. Tims said. "We always meet our goal at F. E. Warren."
