The Warren ICBM and Heritage Museum hosted an open house Dec. 11 as part of their ongoing Christmas exhibit, which runs through the New Year celebrations.

The exhibit can be found in the upstairs section of the museum and displays Victorian era Christmas items.

Air Force Global Strike Command's F. E. Warren, found its beginnings in the Victorian era, around 1837 to 1901, when the country was moving west and the royal family of England was Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, said Paula Taylor, museum director and fifth generation native of the area.

During the open house, the museum had an ornament decorating table with Victorian style ornaments for guests to paint.

"Much like today, Christmas Eve was tree-trimming time," said Ms. Taylor.
The Christmas exhibit has been held in the Warren ICBM and Heritage Museum since 1988.

While taking in the holiday exhibit, guests also had an opportunity to see some of the additions to the museum.

"Three digital displays have been added since August," said Mrs. Taylor. "There are four more in the works. We have preserved film clips coinciding with the specific section of the museum being shown on the displays."

Along with the additions, guests can see uniforms and display models of the ICBM mission here, and displays from different periods of Warren's history.

The Warren ICBM and Heritage Museum, which has been in building 210 since 1967, takes in more than 20,000 visitors on average every year, according to Ms. Taylor.

To see what a Victorian tree and decorations were like, visit the Warren ICBM & Heritage Museum during the holidays. The museum hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, closed weekends, federal holidays, and Global Strike Command Family Days. For more information, please call 773-2980.
