Have a car needing to be sold in Texas while living in Wyoming? Deploying soon and want to make sure one's will is updated and will ensure one's family will be provided for? Or perhaps one is having trouble with a landlord and does not know what to do? The staff of the 90th Missile Wing Legal Office can help with all these issues and more.

The legal office here does more than just prosecute courts-martial and administer non-judicial punishment actions. One of the most important jobs the legal office has is to provide services to Airmen, retirees and dependents. There are many helpful services the legal office provides for free.

Wills

The legal office provides free wills to Airmen, retirees and dependents on an appointment basis. Wills are essential life-planning tools. A will allows one to direct where his or her property will go and plan for guardianship of one's children. If one does not have a will, consider getting one. If a member already has a will, make sure to review it periodically to ensure it is up to date.

Powers of Attorney

The legal office can help in drafting and notarizing various powers of attorney. A power of attorney is a legal document that allows a person to give another the authority to act in his or her name. The authority can be for one simple act, such as selling a car, or for many acts. Powers of attorney are done on a walk-in basis from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. One can walk in for the service, or visit https://www.aflegalassistance.law.af.mil to fill out a worksheet and get a ticket number before coming in to speed the process of creating the document.

Legal Assistance

Legal assistance allows a person to meet with an attorney to discuss civil legal issues. Common issues are divorce, child custody, landlord-tenant problems and various consumer issues. Legal assistance is conducted on a by-appointment basis on from 9 a.m. to noon Tuesdays, and from 1 to 4 p.m. Thursdays. Alternate arrangement can be made for those who cannot make those times.

Free information

The legal office is a fountain of information. There are brochures available on a rack inside the waiting room covering various legal topics, from adoption to warranties. The legal office staff is also very knowledgeable about local resources both on base and downtown. In addition to calling or visiting the legal office, one can visit https://www.aflegalassistance.law.af.mil for information on a variety of legal issues affecting Air Force members and their families.

The staff of the 90th Missile Wing Legal Office is eager to help Airmen, retirees and their families whenever possible.
