The 90th Missile Wing was awarded the Blanchard Trophy for best missile wing for the second year in a row during the 2011 Global Strike Challenge at Barksdale Air Force Base, La., Wednesday.

The trophy is named after Gen. William H. Blanchard, Strategic Air Command's director of operations in the early 1960s, and is the top award an ICBM missile wing can earn during the competition. The top honor a bomber wing can win during the competition is the Fairchild Trophy.

"We came, we saw, we conquered," said Col. Christopher "Boots" Coffelt, 90th MW commander. "Thanks for all the hard work you put into this competition, but more importantly for the work we do every day in the Mighty Ninety."

The Mighty Ninety had much more to celebrate; not only did the wing win best missile wing back-to-back, but Warren also earned another top honor for the second time in a row, the Blackburn Trophy, which is awarded for maintenance excellence.

"The Blackburn Trophy is back where it belongs," said Col. Don Adams, 90th Maintenance Group commander. "Winning this trophy validates what I see every day; they are the best at what they do, and I couldn't be more proud of the team!"

Other honors Warren walked away with this year are: the Lindhard Trophy, awarded to the best missile crew; the Neary Trophy, awarded to the best emergency war orders combat crew; the Best ICBM Mechanical and Pneudralics team, Best ICBM Power, Refrigeration, Electrical Laboratory team, and Best ICBM Missile Maintenance Team.

"All the competitors, trainers and support staff did a tremendous job," said Capt. Andrew Stevens, 319th Missile Squadron missile combat crew commander. "It was a great experience, and I can't wait for next year to bring the Blanchard back for a third time [in a row]."
