There is an old adage stating "practice makes perfect;" however, here within the Mighty Ninety, the adage has been modified to reflect the "mission-ready" mindset to state "perfect practice makes perfect." The Airmen in the 90th Missile Wing plans and programs office help in establishing, planning and executing perfect practice.

"We exercise so we are better prepared to face any potential situation," said Master Sgt. James Fuller, 90th MW/XP. "And, it's better for us to identify possible mistakes or abnormalities in a controlled environment, than facing multiple unknowns when it counts."

The mission the Mighty Ninety provides on a daily basis is interconnected throughout every agency on base, and base exercises allow everybody to get on the "same page," said Jeff Haakinson, 90th MW/XP. Exercises are used to help the Mighty Ninety perfect the day-to-day tasks associated with their job, while allowing them to focus on the "big picture."

"By focusing on completing the day-to-day tasks, people are able to better grasp how their piece of the puzzle fits into the 'big picture,' which aids in people going from an 'inspection ready' mindset to a 'mission ready' mindset," Fuller said.

There are several regulations and guidelines stating how frequently exercises are to be conducted and what objectives are to be met during said exercises.

"Always be willing to learn from exercises," Fuller said. "Each exercise tests a different set of objectives, and the more personnel are willing to learn, the better this wing will become."
