Warren housing showing signs of growth Published Jan. 18, 2013 By Senior Airman Dan Gage 90th Missile Wing Public Affairs F. E. WARREN AIR FORCE BASE, Wyo. -- Over the past months, members of F. E. Warren Air Force Base, Wyo. have seen an increase in construction vehicles around base, along with a large number of new developments rising from the ground. These new homes are part of a three-phase construction project being built by Balfour Beatty Communities under the housing privatization project taking place within the next five years. Balfour Beatty Communities broke ground on the new construction March 8, 2012, and by the time of completion, a total of 387 new residences will house members of the Mighty Ninety and their families. A total of 831 homes and 1,600 acres of undeveloped land are currently being renovated or built on. The first phase, a total of 93 new homes, is currently under development on the land adjacent to Carlin Heights. These new houses by Carlin Heights will comprise a mix of 36 junior-NCO units, 39 senior-NCO units and 18 company-grade-officer units. Many houses will be duplexes, though housing designated for senior-NCO and CGOs will be single family homes. "Servicemembers and their families can expect to begin moving in to these new homes in March," said Elizabeth Bacaoco, 90th Civil Engineer Squadron. "Some homes may be ready for move-in as early as February, though construction schedules are sometimes adjusted due to weather." In addition to the development adjacent to Carlin Heights, 100 homes in the Capehart housing development have been demolished in preparation for 78 new junior-NCO housing units. A total of 200 units will eventually be completed by the end of the new construction. "Our military members can expect to see noticeable improvements in the new housing at Warren," Bacaoco said. "The new units will have a fenced back yard, washer and dryer units on the second floor - near the bedrooms, central-air and a two-car garage." Along with the new construction throughout the base, renovations on the historic brick homes are also being completed within the next five years. Renovations to existing homes will be done on a house-to-house basis between residents occupying them. Additionally, servicemembers residing in homes scheduled for demolition will receive orders to move into new housing units, allowing them to apply for a do-it-yourself move or to work with the Transportation Management Office for assistance with their move, Bacaoco said. Members of the Mighty Ninety are also welcome to attend a town hall event hosted by BBC in the Fall Hall Community Center Jan. 31 at 5 p.m. Warren servicemembers are encouraged to attend with their families to enjoy refreshments and learn more about improvements they can look forward to seeing around base.
