Mighty Ninety Defenders take inspection prep to new levels

F. E. WARREN AIR FORCE BASE, Wyo. -- Three-hundred and fifty Airmen from all four squadrons in the 90th Security Forces Group participated in a 2-mile "Pride Run" on F. E. Warren Air Force Base, Wyo., March 29.

The run comes at a time when everyone in the 90th Missile Wing is gearing up for a Nuclear Surety Inspection.

"The Pride Run showcases our pride, motivation and teamwork," said Chief Master Sgt. Shawn Drinkard, 90th SFG chief enlisted manager. "It's getting everyone together to demonstrate our discipline and precision; the basics of any military unit."

Drinkard explained that even with an inspection looming, 90th SFG Airmen are capable of tackling any challenge that comes their way.

"This isn't about inspection preparation," he said. "It's about everyday excellence, and we do that better than anyone in the business."

In an enterprise where perfection is standard, the 90th SFG undergoes regular evaluations to ensure the highest mission proficiency, through their Standardization and Evaluation section.

"We're the commander's eyes and ears within the units," said Master Sgt. Daniel Priesman, 90th SFG NCO-in-charge of Standardization and Evaluation. "We ensure the commander's intent is practiced in all sections within the group."

The Stan/Eval program allows the 90th SFG commander to monitor and measure all unit functions by providing feedback on the status of unit operations, mission performance, personnel functions and programs. The Stan/Eval section is responsible for coordinating group and wing-level exercises to validate training.

"We send teams out to the field to test job knowledge and conduct security reaction exercises," Priesman added. "We make sure our Airmen maintain a standard of perfection."

The Pride Run, and subsequent BBQ, were both means to motivate the 90th SFG Airmen during this ramp-up to the inspection.

"While we're gaining momentum going into this inspection, it's important to focus on the big picture and global impact the 90th SFG Airmen have," Drinkard said. "I always remind them that the 90th SFG is the premier SFG in the Air Force. End of story. Close the book. Put it on the shelf. We'll write our own history."
