WARREN AIR FORCE BASE, Wyo. -- Warren's Atlas housing began receiving a facelift from Balfour Beatty Communities renovation team March of this year. By September 2016, 210 housing units on the northwest side of the base will have an updated look to both the exterior and interior of the homes. The 210 Atlas housing units being renovated are all part of duplex units; while one side of the home is unoccupied, the other may still have residents living in it. "A majority of the work will be done to the exterior of the homes," said George Guthrie, Balfour Beatty Renovations superintendent. "On the interior however, residents will enjoy upgrades to the kitchen and bathroom areas as well. "We are upgrading the countertops in the kitchen, adding a micro-wave, sink, food disposer and new faucet with sprayer," Guthrie explained. "Some other items such as ceiling fans and new thermostats are also being installed," he added. "The products we are using are energy efficient and also comply with the Buy American Act." While additions to the interior will improve the lives of the members of the Mighty Ninety along with their families, the exterior renovations will give the Atlas neighborhoods a fresh look. "We are 'bumping out' the garage from a single car to a two-car garage," said Aiham Al-Yasiri, Balfour Beatty Renovations superintendent. "These renovations to the garages will also include electrical upgrades, such as a dedicated circuit to allow for residents to plug in their vehicles." The front and back of the houses will also see improvements to help residents enjoy the summer months as well as stay warmer through the Wyoming winters. "We are closing in the front entry to create an 'Artic Entry' which will allow residents to step in out of the weather conditions, prior to entering the main living area," Al-Yasiri explained. "Another addition is the rear-covered patio inside the fenced yard in the back of the home," he added. For more information on renovations taking place in Atlas housing at F. E.
