In these troubled times, many people are looking for answers.  The 90th Security Forces Squadron has found some of those answers within their alpha flight.  Their mantra has been the epitome of service before self.

“Alpha flight is very resilient,” said Staff Sgt. Brianna Mason, base defense operations center controller. “Individuals in the flight are taking care of each other. Flight members are helping each other get to the store to get groceries to ensure we’re fit to fight.”

Members are not only taking care of each other, but also each other’s families.

“We have had flight members volunteer to provide child care for spouses that may need to visit the commissary or make any appointments they may have,” Mason added.

The preparation seen throughout the country has also been a priority for the security forces members in alpha flight.

“We have placed some flight members on standby to limit exposure and to make certain we will have healthy defenders if the situation arises,” said Tech. Sgt. Lacey Jackson, flight chief, alpha flight.

There have been some changes in procedures to limit points of exposure, but the mission is still being done.

“There are a few things that have changed at the gate,” said Airman 1st Class Jacob Lane, installation entry controller, alpha flight.  “But for the most part it is business as usual. There are a few new procedures that we are doing such as not touching the ID’s to limit personal exposure.”

Airmen are not only dealing with the changes and banding together as a family, they are also ensuring the mission is accomplished.

“We are doing everything in our power,” said Tech. Sgt. Lacey Jackson. “We’re working together to ensure the mission at work is being completed while also ensuring we’re successful in our mission at home, taking care of our families.”
