Pronghorns give birth on F.E. Warren Air Force Base in late May and early June each year. They often drop their fawns in very public places, such as the parking lots or backyards of houses.

The mothers will move a distance away from their fawns once they are born so they do not attract predators to the newborn. The fawns will curl up in the grass to stay hidden and mothers return to nurse their young about every five hours.

If you see a fawn, please do not touch it. Humans can leave an unfamiliar scent on a fawn and the mothers will often abandon them.

If you see a fawn alone, it may not be abandoned. However, if you are concerned, please call Natural Resources at 773-5098 so that it can be monitored.
