F.E. Warren's Top 3 hosts a weekly Leadership Training Event every Tuesday at 3 p.m. The in-depth discussions focus on leadership topics and lessons learned from books on the Air Force Chief of Staff Reading List and everyone is welcome to attend.

"It's another tool in your leadership toolbox," said Master Sgt. Roberto Rodriguez-Santiago, 90th Contracting Squadron superintendent, who started the LTE last year. "It helps the office environment; it helps you as a person; it helps smooth the rough edges of your job."

Although encouraged, reading the books is not a requirement to participate, as it is not a book club —the only requirements are an open mind, eagerness to meet others, and a hunger for success, Rodriguez said.

The senior non-commissioned officer running the LTE session guides a discussion about a topic taken from the reading list. The most recent session on April 19 focused on continually challenging oneself to go beyond what is expected, a core theme of “Linchpin” by Seth Godin. Past topics have featured the dynamics of workplace conversation when handling emotional topics, how to make difficult changes and making oneself more valuable to organizations.

Leadership Training Event sessions provide a place for senior NCOs to leave their legacy to a new generation of enlisted Airmen and company grade officers as well as civilians who work on base, field grade officers, and even dependents in the work force. This is about an exchange of ideas and people from all walks of life are encouraged to contribute.

"They've been really insightful, and I felt like they're well worth the time," said Senior Airman Nathan Sievers, 90th Communications Squadron. "The more you have to bring to the table, the more you have to solve problems. That's crucial in today’s Air Force."

Sievers has attended several of LTE sessions over the course of the year and said he has applied a lot of what he has learned to his workplace and life in general.

No RSVP is required. The location varies, and detailed information will be advertised via the wing’s email and Facebook page.

Books on the reading list used are comprised of books that the current CSAF says has “…fascinating ideas about personal and organizational values, growth, and success.”

The local Laramie County Library will also have the entire CSAF reading list books available for Airmen to read at no cost.

Discussions on the current book will continue for the next two weeks, and LTE sessions on “Focus,” by Daniel Goleman, will start on May 10.
