Leaders from across the 90th Missile Wing served lunch to approximately 250 F.E. Warren civilian personnel and other attendees in the Fall Hall Community Center Oct. 18 in thanks for their service to the wing through times of federal budget woes and furloughs.

"All of our civilians and contractors have all been through so much this year and deserve to be recognized," said Col. Tracey Hayes, 90th MW commander.

Mighty Ninety leadership appreciates civilian and contractor employees for their service, which is critical to the wing's mission success, she said.

Hayes tasked the base chapel with organizing the luncheon, who in turn sought help from the Company Grade Officers Council and other organizations on base. Coordinators had a week to prepare the event, said Chaplain (Capt.) Samuel McClellan, 90th MW Chaplain's Office.

"We wanted military leadership to serve the civilians," he said. "This was but a small token of our appreciation. We can't do enough. Normally they serve us or alongside us, but we wanted to serve them."

Even though civilians are not in uniform, they work at F.E. Warren because they have a desire to serve, said 1st Lt. Alan Ortega, 90th Contracting Squadron contracting specialist and CGOC vice president.

"It's a good motivating event for the employees that were affected by the furloughs," said Victor Cortez, 90th LRS warehouse supervisor.

Group and squadron commanders, chiefs and first sergeants, the Lead 5/6, the Airman's Council and the CGOC provided food, drinks and eating utensils for the luncheon.

"This would have failed it wasn't for the amazing team effort here at F.E. Warren," McClellan said.
