The 90th Medical Group commander hosted a town hall meeting March 19 in the Fall Hall Community Center to talk about the Medical Group's mission and to explain the changes being made to better improve their customer service.

The 90th Medical Groups goal is to enroll more people in the clinic and to provide unrivaled, customer-centered care, said Colonel Hans V. Ritschard, the 90th MDG commander.

Several tools are available to support customers in receiving the care. One such tool is the Over-The-Counter class, which gives people access to free, over-the-counter medications.

The class also teaches how to use online resources when ill to determine the most appropriate care, Ritschard said.

The class is held every second Wednesday of the month at 3 p.m. in room Q-1 in the clinic. Anyone enrolled to the clinic can sign up by calling the Pharmacy at 773-3461 and using option 2. After completion of the class, the graduate has access to request the free medication when they need it.

In addition, kiosks have been installed in the Pharmacy to allow prioritization, Ritschard said. The kiosks give military members faster service so they are able to keep the mission going.

Ritschard recommends using Tricare On-line, which helps with setting up appointments and allows users to view lab results, including blood tests and x-rays.

Finally, MiCare is another online tool promoted by the Medical Group. It gives a secure way to contact the healthcare team though email, as well as a health library with over 150 topics.

If an emergency happens, people should go straight to the emergency room or call 911. However, most cases aren't emergencies, so patients should call the Nurse Advice Line at 773-3461 to help determine the best treatment if they have questions after normal clinic hours.

Starting in late April, the Advice Line will also be able to book appointments in the clinic for the next day.

The commander of the Medical Group wants the clinic to be the main source for medical care on base.

"We are serious about improving our customer service," said Ritschard.
