The 90th Force Support Squadron hosted an individual ready reserve muster here April 23, 2015. The IRR is a category of the ready reserve component of the Armed Forces of the United States and is comprised of former active duty or reserve military personnel.

"The IRR is individuals who separated or, rarely, those who retired before fulfilling their military service obligation," said Lt. Kathrine Moorkamp, 90th Force Support Squadron and point of contact for the muster. "The IRR is, in essence, the third string of the reserve or guard. They can and have been called to active service."

About 90 IRR members came to the base for the muster to ensure the military had the correct contact and medical information.

"IRR personnel are members of the ready reserve and as such, they retain their status as uniformed military personnel, their military specialty and rank/pay grade," said Staff Sgt. Danielle Gill, Wyoming Air National Guard recruiter. "IRR personnel attend muster to ensure and confirm their personal contact information, and sign acknowledgment paperwork in the event that Presidential Reserve Call-up authority is utilized during a national need."

The PRCA can be used by a president to activate up to 30,000 members of the IRR if the country needs assistance. Those activated can remain active for up to 365 days if the mission deems it necessary.

"It is imperative that information is up to date in the event they are called to active service," Moorkamp said. "In addition, IRR members need to let the Air Reserve Center know of any conditions that could exclude them from being called back to active duty."

The muster began with briefings about benefits IRR members receive and opportunities available. Recruiters from the guard and reserve were on hand during the muster.
"The Air National Guard had two recruiters to offer information on what the ANG is and the options it provides," Gill said. "The ANG affords the opportunity for former members to continue to be associated with an organization that promotes a sense of belonging and esprit de corps."

Information was presented to members regarding Tricare Reserve Select, the Montgomery GI bill, the Post 9-11 GI Bill, VA medical benefits, entitlements to a military ID card, BX and Commissary benefits, and about Service Group Members Life insurance.

The IRR muster allowed personnel to ensure their information was correct with the 90th FSS and the Air Reserve Center, thus ensuring they could be contacted in a time of need.
