The 90th Medical Group Medical Treatment Facility installed several Wi-Fi hotspots throughout the clinic for patient use, in September.

The MDG provides a host of medical services to 90th Missile Wing personnel, local veterans and family members.

"This is just one way we provide support and service to the community," said Jim Keller, 90th Medical Support Squadron Information Systems flight chief. "This gives us another level of capability that patients and the staff can use."

The 90th MDSS Information Systems Flight was integral to the setup of the free wireless internet hotspots throughout the 90th MDG Clinic complex and 1st Lt. Christian Coleman, 90th MDSS Information Systems officer.

"This was a team effort, but this was something Coleman wanted to do since the day he got here" Keller said.

The five Wi-Fi hotspots spread through the clinic require no password to access. This implementation allows patients to make cell phone calls, browse the web and message family and friends.

"The design of the building inhibits multicellular data," Keller said. "We look at this as an upgrade to patient care."

Along with patients, this new feature assists the personnel working in the faculty. Family emergencies or simply staying in touch with friends during a break can be a challenge with a lack of a reliable signal.

"A lot of people use it," said Tech. Sgt. Elizabeth Loska, 90th Medical Operations Squadron Dental Clinic NCO-in-charge. "This building just sucks out the signal, so [Wi-Fi] is a good addition."

The purpose of the MTF is to provide support to the community and military members and the Wi-Fi is a customer service to help ease wait times.

"More than enjoying your visit, we want to guarantee that you have communication access with your family so that you can ensure medical needs are met while you're with our team," Coleman said. "All we ask is that you put your device away when you're with our staff."
