The 2015 Combined Federal Campaign is underway within the 90th Missile Wing. From now until Nov. 20, Airmen are encouraged to speak with squadron representatives to find a charity that's right for them.

The mission of the CFC is to support and to promote philanthropy through a voluntary program that is employee-focused, cost-efficient and effective in providing all Federal employees the opportunity to improve the quality of life for all. The CFC provides Airmen the opportunity to give to more than 4,000 local, national and international charities.

Each year, the Wing sets a goal it hopes to accomplish, but this year they are doing it a little different.

"We don't want to focus on a total amount as a goal ," said 1st Lt. Christian Coleman, 90th Medical Operations Squadron Resource Management, Information Systems and CSS flight commander and the Wing's 2015 CFC head representative. "Instead, the goal this year is $5 per month from every federal employee."

Coleman said the decision to look at it as a monthly price helped put it into more of a perspective.

"We went with $5 a month because, when broken down into monthly installations, $5 is a drop in the bucket, something everyone can afford," he said. That's about $1.15 per week. People spend more than $1.15 on a coffee or an energy drink in one day. So when the contribution is put into perspective like that, it's easy for our Federal employees to go ahead and contribute."

Though the goal is $5 each, there is no limit to the amount someone can donate.
"Some folks will contribute way more than $5 a month, some will choose not to contribute at all," Coleman said, "but there's a charity out there for everyone, and everyone has a reason to donate."
