The roads around Capitol Ave. were packed today in Cheyenne, Wyoming, July 20, 2024, for the first of many Cheyenne Frontier Days parades to be held this year.

For almost as long as there’s been a parade Airman have been marching during Cheyenne Frontier Days and for the last several years an Air Force representative has been the Grand Marshal. This year the Grand Marshal is General Van Ovost from United States Transportation Command.

The celebration includes horses and carriages, buggies, military vehicles, antique cars and features several formations made up of Airmen from F.E. Warren Air Force Base and other military units around Wyoming and Colorado.

“My family loves it, we’re out here every year just to enjoy the kickoff,” said Jackie Churls, a parade goer who attending with their family. “I can’t imagine a parade without the military support, ever since I was a kid, I’ve seen the troops marching through.”

Volunteers from every Group on F.E. Warren come together to assist in Cheyenne’s biggest annual event. Each CFD celebration typically includes multiple parades, a carnival, concerts, professional bull riding, several pancake breakfasts held in downtown Cheyenne, and of course the rodeo to top it off.
