Warren supports Operation Financial Fitness Published Feb. 22, 2007 By 1st Lt. David Everson 90th Space Wing F.E. Warren AFB, Wyo. -- The Defense Department has designated Feb. 25 through March 4 as Military Saves Week to encourage service members and their families to establish savings goals and set money aside for emergencies and other needs. Warren is supporting this effort by asking military members and civilians to join Military Saves as part of Operation Financial Fitness. "Warren is delighted to support Operation Financial Fitness and the Military Saves campaign," said Col. Mike Carey, 90th Space Wing commander. "Regardless of age, military or civilian, everyone can benefit from improving their savings habits." Military Saves is part of the nationwide campaign, America Saves, and is sponsored by Consumer Federation of America, the DoD, the National Association of Securities Dealer's Investor Education Foundation and a nationwide network of defense credit unions and military banks. Part of the DOD Financial Readiness Campaign, Military Saves encourages leaders to focus attention on encouraging their troops to get out of debt and save money. "The airman and family readiness center provides services across the spectrum of readiness-related activities, and we know the impact an individual's finances have on readiness," said Shauna Lacey, AFRC community readiness consultant. "We are very excited about this campaign and hope the base populace takes advantage of the many programs we have in addition to those offered during the Military Saves campaign." Saving money and alleviating debt requires dedication, sacrifice and patience. Military Saves provides the tools to help accomplish that financial mission. Individuals make the commitment to save money on a regular basis to achieve their personal financial goals.
