Warren on a roll with more Space Command awards Published May 14, 2007 By Airman Alex Martinez 90th Space Wing Public Affairs F.E. Warren AFB, Wyo. -- Two squadrons here won awards April 24 for being the best at their respective missions, only adding to the already impressive year the 90th Space Wing is having. The 90th Operations Support Squadron earned the Col. Lowell F. McAdoo Award and the 320th Missile Squadron won the Gen. Samuel C. Phillips Award. "We work our tails off non-stop all year long, and to win something like this makes everyone sigh and smile a little bit," said Lt. Col. Robert Stanley, 90th OSS commander. "It energizes us to work our tails off for another year." The McAdoo Award recognizes the best overall ICBM OSS in Air Force Space Command. Colonel Stanley said it makes him even more proud of his Airmen to know they won this award by working harder due to having fewer missile chefs and five members deployed overseas. "We at the 90th OSS pride ourselves in being a family and looking out for each other," Colonel Stanley said. "Our motto here is 'Making the impossible look routine.'" Members of the 90th OSS and Warren missile squadrons are usually the first to see changes in everyday procedures and missions before Minot Air Force Base, N.D., and Malmstrom AFB, Mont. This requires them to work hard to figure out what's the most efficient way of doing business, Colonel Stanley said. The Phillips Award, sponsored by the Association of Air Force Missileers, goes to the best overall missile squadron. The award earns its name from General Phillips because of his extensive contribution to the development and testing of the Minuteman ICBM system. The 320th MS competed against 10 missile squadrons for the award. "I'm proud of everyone," said Lt. Col. Jeffrey Smith, 320th MS commander. "This squadron has done incredibly well over the past year. I'm very pleased to be part of it. The 320th MS is a close-knit squadron with members who practice teamwork very well. The wingman mentality helps them all take care of each other." Colonel Smith said it's not uncommon for members to take each other's shifts if need be. He added that these squadron-level awards are a testimony of the leadership of Col. Mike Carey, 90th Space Wing commander, and Col. Mike Morgan, 90th SW vice commander. "They have created an environment that allows us, encourages us and helps us to succeed," Colonel Smith said.
