The Warren Spouses Club elected new leadership during its bingo extravaganza event April 17 in the Pronghorn Center.

After a silent vote, Terri Cresswell, wife of Capt. Scott Cresswell, 90th Comptroller Squadron, was elected president for the next WSC board year starting in June.

"It's humbling to actually be elected president," Mrs. Cresswell said. "I'm a little nervous because it's a big job, but I believe in the club and what the club stands for."

Three spouses ran for president. Each gave a brief platform statement before members performed a silent vote.

"It's time for the club to have new ideas and a new outlook on things," said Cindee Leonard, wife of Capt. Mike Leonard, 321st Missile Squadron. "I'm turning it over to great hands. Terri is a very good person for the position."

The club also elected two vice presidents and a secretary. The co-vice presidents are Constance Zatorski, wife of 1st Lt. Benjamin Zatorski, 319th Missile Squadron, and Angel Mann, wife of 1st Lt. John Mann, 90th Operations Support Squadron. The two vice presidencies perform different roles. Mrs. Zatorski plans the club's social events and steps in for the president when she is not available. Mrs. Mann manages the smaller clubs and organizations within the WSC.

The new secretary is Jennifer Williams, wife of Maj. David Williams, 90th Security Support Squadron.

The elected and appointed positions have one-year terms. Elected positions can be re-elected for another one-year term after which the elected member must step down. Appointed positions can be kept for an unlimited number of terms.

Mrs. Cresswell's primary goal for the year is to keep promoting the club to spouses on base. The club now boasts more than 100 members and recently accepted its first two male members.

She plans to focus on including spouses that are new to the Air Force and married to the junior enlisted and officer ranks.

"We'd really like to reach out to our younger spouses and the spouses left alone because of deployments and their spouses going out to the missile fields," Mrs. Cresswell said.

One of the WSC's main roles is providing scholarships to active-duty military family members associated with Warren. Last year, the WSC gave about $15,000 to scholarship recipients using money raised in fundraisers like the spouses' basket auction, the club's biggest fundraiser. In 2006, the auction raised more than $5,000 for scholarships. This year, the WSC, led by Mrs. Leonard, raised nearly $15,000.

"I have some big shoes to fill because [Mrs. Leonard] has done some amazing things with the club," Mrs. Cresswell said.

The WSC still needs two treasurers: one to handle the WSC budget and expenses and one to pay the scholarships and charity donations. The club also needs to fill more than 15 appointed positions that are chairs of standing committees. Only the membership and scholarship positions are filled.

Spouses interested in joining the club or leading a standing committee may call Terri Cresswell at 286-3226.
