Members of the Warren Fire Department prepare for a live-fire training exercise held here May 31 at the training grounds at Bldg. 1340. The fire department runs four to five of these “control burns” a year for annual training (Photos by Staff Sgt. Chad Thompson).
Airman Stephen Colucci extinguishes the fire while Staff Sgt. Nate Pyle observes and critiques the technique. This was Airman Colucci’s first training fire since arriving to Warren.
Tech. Sgt. Michael Falzone ignites the fire for the live-fire exercise. Fires in Bldg. 1340 can reach 700 degrees, but it has built-in fans to regulate the temperature for training purposes.
Staff Sgt. Pyle, left, and Airman Colucci prepare to enter the room and fight the fire. The top half of the door is discolored because it is superheated.
