New 90th OG commander back at Warren Published June 19, 2007 By Airman Alex Martinez 90th Space Wing Public Affairs F.E. Warren AFB, Wyo. -- Warren is not uncharted territory for the new 90th Operations Group commander. It's been 11 years since he's been stationed here, and he feels privileged to be able to re-connect with a new generation of Warren professionals. He has held the title of the 90th OG Standardization and Evaluation Division chief and said he is extremely glad to be here again. "It feels great to be back," said Col. Bryant Anderson, 90th OG commander. "The people are so friendly here, and it's amazing how motivated the whole wing is." After growing up in Alabama, Colonel Anderson began his career in 1983 after graduating from the University of Alabama's Air Force ROTC program one year earlier with a bachelor of science degree in secondary education. From California to the United Kingdom, he has had many duty stations he has enjoyed. "I've been very lucky with all my assignments," said Col. Anderson. "I have loved them all." Before coming back to Warren, Colonel Anderson was stationed at the Air Force headquarters in Washington, D.C., as the deputy director for space operations. Now as the 90th OG commander, Colonel Anderson said he is aware of the changes that have taken place and new challenges since the last time he was here. "There is a new generation of [missile] crew force, and the systems are more technically advanced than they were when I came through," Colonel Anderson said. "The new three-person, 72-hour alerts are also a big change for the operations community. I think the 90th OG has done a phenomenal job in carrying out the wing's nuclear deterrent mission, so the challenge is to keep it on top and number one." Colonel Anderson said one of the biggest changes he has noticed, not only since the last time he was stationed here but in recent years, is how deployable our Airmen are today. Air Force Airmen are being deployed more and more everyday. He said being a group commander comes with a heavy workload. "Being a group commander is a big responsibility," Colonel Anderson said. "I have over 400 Airmen that I'm responsible for, and it's not only them but their families. Being a missile operations group commander is a very big challenge in making sure we accomplish the ICBM mission safely and securely each and every day and taking care of the outstanding Airmen accomplishing this critical mission." With the extensive knowledge and experience Colonel Anderson has in the ICBM world, his next two years as the 90th OG commander are promising. "My goal here is for the 90th OG to be the best missile operations group in the Twentieth Air Force and, on a larger scale, the best operations group in Air Force Space Command," he said.
