CCAF grads earn AFA Pitsenbarger grants Published Nov. 16, 2007 By Col. Carol Holland Air Force Association F. E. Warren AFB, Wyo. -- Master Sgt. Melannie Porter, Twentieth Air Force, and Senior Airman Glen Tomkowiak II, 90th Medical Services Squadron, both received a $500 Pitsenbarger grant from the Air Force Association at the fall Community College of the Air Force graduation ceremony Nov. 7. This grant, named after Medal of Honor recipient Airman 1st Class William Pitsenbarger, is awarded to top CCAF graduates who plan to pursue a baccalaureate degree. Chief Master Sgt. James Hunt, 90th Operations Group, and retired colonel Carol Holland presented the awards. Sergeant Porter is the personnel programs manager for the Twentieth AF. She earned her CCAF degree in human resource management and is pursuing a bachelor's degree in social psychology through Park University. Airman Tomkowiak is a member of the 90th Medical Group information systems flight where he is responsible for information security. His CCAF degree is in health care management. He is pursuing a bachelor's degree in management and information systems at Park University. He plans to earn a master's degree and obtain a commission as a medical service officer. The Pitsenbarger Award is provided through the Cowboy Chapter of the AFA with the support of the base education officer and the command chief master sergeant.
